Before marketing the Stack Melter, Cal-Miser spent years on research and development. The result: a simple and easy to maintain design that keeps the meta tender's labor to a minimum, often cutting labor in half. Maximum efficiency is achieved by using the heat and exhaust gases to preheat all the aluminum before escaping out the roof, eliminating the need for large bath sizes. All metal is preheated in the stack to prepare it for the hearth burners to heat to a liquid state. The metal then runs into the bath where it is super-heated to 1,350 degrees. This keeps bath temperature constant; staying within 10 degrees of set point -- a sharp contrast to conventional style furnaces where bars or scrap would be dropped in, and bath temp would drop at least 50 to 100 degrees below set. This results in hotter metal to our holders and better product. Expect to easily run this furnace at 2,800 to 2,000 lbs. per hour with one person.
In addition to gas consumption and conservation, there's electric savings as well. By varying the blower speed instead of using mechanical-style valving, electrical energy isn't wated by running blower motors full speed when needed only half of the time. This can cut electrical usage as much as 50%.
Your melt tender must keep the stack full at all times, with the exception of the cleaning procedure, and the furnace will automatically stay at operating level.
Two different options for loading the Stack Melter exist. The first one is very simple -- a roll-style scrap hopper that can be purchased from any outside vendor, used with your fork lift truck to raise the hoppers to load the stack. This is one of the simplest and the most efficient means of loading.
The second option is a chain driven-style loader purchased from Cal-Miser that includes five one-cubic yard containers. More containers can be purchased, if needed. Gates and interlocks for safety will surround the loader. All controls will be provided; however, sufficient foundation for mounting the loader will be required.

Cal-Miser cabinet and controls are standard USA components, giving the customer reliability, performance and quality.
